Improving reliability and capacity on Victoria’s regional network.
Works under the Rollingstock & Integration program include upgrades to train maintenance and stabling facilities to support the expanding V/Line VLocity fleet. A key project is the South Dynon Train Maintenance Facility (TMF) upgrade, which modernises a legacy depot into V/Line’s primary VLocity fleet hub.
The upgrade delivers new and enhanced train stabling, maintenance and refuelling facilities, wheel lathe, train wash and standalone bio-wash facilities, offices, road access and car parking. Stage 1 focused on critical safety and efficiency improvements, while Stage 2 introduced advanced systems to support long‑term fleet growth, reliability and service performance.
Broad‑ and standard‑gauge infrastructure was reconfigured across a shared access yard, requiring close coordination with multiple operators and infrastructure managers. The standalone bio‑wash facility improves service recovery and operational resilience. The project strengthens Victoria’s regional rail safety, supports ongoing fleet expansion, and enhances the capacity and reliability of the regional transport network.
