Supporting the Shift from Road to Rail While Boosting Freight Capacity
The Maroona to Portland Line Upgrade is a $150+ million project to modernise 173 km of freight rail in western Victoria, connecting Maroona with the Port of Portland. The works will increase axle load limits and line speeds, boosting capacity, strengthening supply chains, and improving competitiveness for regional producers by shifting more freight from road to rail.
