Removing 110 dangerous and congested level crossings by 2030.
The removal of 85 level crossings across metropolitan Melbourne by 2025 and a further 25 by 2030, delivered by a number of Alliances. At the end of the project, one of the largest rail infrastructure projects in Victoria’s history, the Sunbury, Werribee, Frankston, Cranbourne, Pakenham and Lilydale lines will be level crossing free.
This program also involves upgrades such as new train stations, track duplications and extensions, signalling upgrades and train stabling yards.
