Kilmany Rail Bridge

A spectacular, new 95-metre 3200-tonne single span steel arch rail bridge.

As part of the Princes Highway East Upgrade, a new rail-over-road bridge was constructed to replace a rail underpass that was originally built in 1965.

The bridge is a “network tied-arch” bridge, with a steel arch either side of the track, a concrete bridge deck and a network of high-strength steel “hangers” crossing over each other, tying the steel arches firmly to the deck and allowing one long span without a central supporting pier.
