We are thrilled to announce Daniel Buntine has been promoted to IRE’s new Head of Engineering – Queensland. With 15 years of experience in delivering complex track and civil projects and spearheading asset management improvement initiatives, Daniel is set to lead our Queensland engineering team to new heights. As a Chartered Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering and Asset Management, and a Registered Professional Engineer (CPEng, RPEQ and RPEV), Daniel’s expertise is widely recognised and respected in the industry.
Daniel’s career is marked by significant achievements, including leading the deployment of a locomotive-mounted track geometry and rail profile condition assessment system, redesigning and deploying improved rail stress management standards and processes, implementing IoT weather monitoring to minimise hot weather impacts on network operations, and integrating GIS and reporting systems with asset management processes. His diverse background in civil design, rail construction and maintenance, asset management and the integration with the entire railway ecosystem provides a holistic understanding of the industry’s challenges and opportunities.

He excels at working effectively with diverse teams to adapt processes, combining engineering expertise with excellent communication and strong stakeholder management skills.
